Freestyle/Freeride Programs

AVSC Freestyle/Freeride has outstanding programs where older athletes can choose their focus in Moguls (Freestyle), Big Mountain (Freeride), Pipe & Park (Freeskiing), or a combination of disciplines. Younger athletes participate in well-rounded programs, helping them develop into strong all mountain skiers while building foundational skills for all freestyle disciplines. Whether your goal is an X Games podium and going to the Olympics, like AVSC alumni Alex Ferriera and Torin Yater-Wallace, or you want to learn new tricks in the safest ways possible, we have the program to fit your needs.

For more information contact Freestyle/Freeride Program Director Eric Knight at 205-5130 or eknight@teamavsc.org.

COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

Our competitive programs are designed for competitive athletes. Freestyle skiing is their passion. They want the highest level of opportunity – working with the most experienced coaches, having the most hands-on equipment recommendations, travelling to the highest level of competition for their age group. They want to give skiing their all; they are fully committed and excited to invest a significant amount of time and energy year round in pursuit of becoming the very best freestyle skier that they can be! DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Our development programs are designed for athletes who are focused on progressing in their sport, getting outside, and having fun. They are enthusiastic skiers who want to develop freestyle and all-mountain skills while enjoying the camaraderie of a team. While they’re passionate skiers, they want to enjoy summers and holiday breaks free of training (dryland and holiday camps are not included in program fees for Development programs). While they may be interested in competing at a local level, they’re not looking to travel far afield or pursue high-level competition.

Note: Any development athletes that qualify and compete at USASA Nationals will be charged $500 for extended training leading up to and at Nationals (this includes coaches expense charge at Nationals).

PRE-DEVELOPMENT TEAM (AGE 7-8; BIRTH YEAR 2014-2015)

This program is a bridge between our Aspen Supports Kids program and our Alpine and Freestyle programs. It teaches mountain safety, lots of all mountain skiing, basic freestyle fundamentals, and an introduction to racing. This is a great option for young skiers who want a taste of AVSC’s freestyle and alpine programs. Towards the end of the season, athletes will have the opportunity to participate in a “step up” day to experience a more specialized program in Alpine or Freestyle.

•This group will ski for 20 days, meeting on weekends from December 10th – March 12th. Athletes should be a level 7 or higher.
•Skiers are encouraged to enter 2-3 fun-focused local competitions at no additional cost.
•Program Fee: $2,685: Additional Parent Work Deposit $150
