Mountain Biking

Note regarding COVID-19:  Our intention is to offer safe summer programming that operates within the guidelines of our county health orders. As we move through phases and as the pandemic unfolds we will continue to make adjustments and keep everyone apprised. We are under the assumption that utilizing AVSC vans for the summer is not a possibility due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines. If this changes, we will let everyone know. There may be days where we meet and drop off at different locations. We know this is not ideal for all parents, so we will make sure this works with everyone before sending out plans for the week.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email or call Rob Russell at rrussell@teamavsc.org or 970-355-9330.

Mountain Biking Snowmass

About the Program

Development --> Confidence --> Progression

At the core of our mountain bike programming is skill development, confidence, risk management and progression inside a team environment. Whether your athlete leans toward endurance or gravity, the fundamentals of speed control, cornering, body position, jumping/air awareness, climbing, pumping, and line choice all remain the same. All groups will ride trails and be expected to pedal.

Location
All programming will be based out of Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel. Crown Mountain Park has spent years planning and investing in cycling related infrastructure (dirt jumps, pumptrack, airbag, BMX track, cross-country skills trails) and we will see much of this work coming to fruition in June of 2020. AVSC is excited to call Crown Mountain Park home.

While we are based out of Crown Mountain Park, we won't be meeting there every day. Some days, we will meet/pick-up at mid-valley trailheads so we can get on singletrack. Look for meeting locations to be sent out in the Friday email that is sent out for the following week's session.

Racing and Competition
EnDH Program athletes will race locally and regionally and have national racing opportunities. Summer Session riders will have local racing opportunities if interested. *Racing this summer is TBD.

Rider Awareness
Trail stewardship, trail building and maintenance, bike maintenance, trail etiquette are all integral to AVSC mountain bike programming.

Refund Policy
Full refunds are permitted up to 5 days prior to the program start date. All refunds are subject to a $25 processing fee. Athletes will be refunded 100%, with no processing fee, if we are unable to run programs due to COVID-19.
