August Academics Update

The 2025-26 school year is rapidly approaching in a few short weeks!

As we continue to collaborate valley-wide with schools to strengthen our partnerships and support AVSC athletes and academic needs, it is critically important for families to be a part of this process. Our schools work hard to provide some flexible scheduling for athletes to train and compete, and in return we ask all TEAM families to be engaged, responsible, and good partners beginning on the first day of school.

Some ways to ensure you start off on the right foot with your school include:

  • Please take a moment to review your Campminder profile. It should include your TEAM athlete’s current school and grade. If something needs to be changed (if your athlete changed schools, for instance), please email clubhousemanager@teamavsc.org with the correct information. This information allows us to provide accurate data to our school partners and assess student needs.
  • Ensure all assigned summer schoolwork is completed prior to the start of the year.
  • Communicate any known upcoming absences to schools in a timely manner.
  • Understand the school policy around reporting absences and missed work.
  • Meet with a counselor or principal (if necessary) to discuss the upcoming school year and athlete schedule.
  • Make every effort to not plan travel and to be at school on October 1, 2025. This is the day the state of Colorado uses student attendance records to determine per-pupil state funding for public schools. Every absence impacts a school's funding bottom line, and we want to support our partners whenever possible.

In the coming weeks, AVSC will send out a more comprehensive communication outlining how we will support academics for TEAM athletes and how TEAM athletes can be successful in communicating with their schools. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Academic Advisor Andy Davies at adavies@teamavsc.org with questions.
