ASK Programs

Aspen Supports Kids (ASK) is AVSC’s recreational division and serves as the starting block and foundation for all AVSC programs.  ASK is where athletes have the opportunity to build their skills, love and passion for skiing and snowboarding in an affordable group lesson with their local peers. Programming is skill based development and not terrain based.  ASK recreational programs serves kids 3.5 years of age through 12th grade in a series of either three, six, seven, eight or twelve-day programs on Buttermilk, Snowmass, Highlands and Aspen Mountain. Our ASK programs are taught by top level Aspen Skiing Company ski and snowboard pros. Once an ASK athlete turns seven and is a level 7 ski/snowboarder, they have the opportunity to transition into one of our competitive TEAM programs OR choose to continue with their ASK lesson progression. AVSC’s ASK program offers something for every athlete at every level.

PRESEASON

SNOBANDITS FULL DAY – 3 days skiing I Snowmass I Age 4* - Grade 2 I Levels vary

  • Dates: December 2, 9, 16 | 3 Saturdays
  • Who: Skiers
  • Age/Eligibility:
    • Kindergarten – Grade 2; All levels
    • Pre-Kindergarten 4 years old (*must be 4 on or before September 15, 2023) AND Level 4 or above
    • Please join the waitlist if spaces are full at the time of registration.  If there is enough demand, we will consider expansion to Sundays (November 26, December 3 & 10).
  • Time: 9:00am – 2:30pm (5.5 hour lesson) 
  • Where: Base Village Snowmass
  • Details: 
    • Lunch included in program fee provided for full day lessons through the Treehouse.
    • Price includes lift pass on lesson days only.  Voucher will be emailed from AVSC after registration. For athletes 6 and under (*must be 6 through February 15th, 2024), no voucher is required, and cost is $0.  Must secure physical lift ticket prior to start of program from Aspen Skiing Company ticket office.
    • No scholarships are available, but payment plans can be arranged.
    • Equipment is not included.
    • No refunds due to early season ski conditions.

SNOBANDITS HALF DAY – 3 days skiing I Snowmass I Age 3.5 - Pre-K I All Levels

  • Age/Eligibility: 3.5 by the start of the program (must be born on or before 6/2/2020 and potty trained) – Pre Kindergarten; All levels
  • Time: 8:45am – 11:45am (Half Day Lesson) or 12:30pm – 3:30pm (Half Day Lesson)
  • Where: Base Village Snowmass
  • Details:
    • Snack time offered in the half day lessons through the Treehouse; athletes to bring their own snacks that can fit in their ski jacket pockets or fanny pack.
    • Must secure physical lift ticket prior to start of program from Aspen Skiing Company ticket office.  6 and under lift tickets are $0; no AVSC voucher required.
    • No scholarships are available, but payment plans can be arranged.
    • Equipment is not included.

SNOBANDITS CROSSOVER FULL DAY  – 3 days Snowboarding I Snowmass I Grades 1-8 I Never ever - Level 1

  • Overview: INTRO TO SNOWBOARDING - Does your child want to try snowboarding? AVSC is excited to be offering a 3-day program for brand new snowboarders at Snowmass this winter.  This program is designed for kids who have never snowboarded and want to give it a try!
  • ​Dates: December 2, 9, 16 | 3 Saturdays
  • Who: Brand New Snowboarders
  • Age/Eligibility: Grade 1 - 8; Never ever - Level 1 
  • Time: 9:00am – 2:30pm (5.5 hour Lesson)

    • All beginners (level 1 – 3 skier & level 1 – 5 snowboarder) in Grades 1- 12 must sign up for Snowarrior Buttermilk Programs.

  • Time: 9:00am – 2:30pm (5.5 Hour Lesson)
  • Where: Snowmass Two Creeks
  • Transportation: Free transportation from down valley bus stops based on availability.  Please apply for a seat in the registration process.
  • Details:

POWDER PANDAS – 6 days skiing I Kindergarten I All levels

  • Time: 8:45 am – 2:15 pm (5.5 hour Lesson)
  • Where: Buttermilk Hideout
  • Details:
    • All athletes will be required to bring their own lunch in a lunch sack or brown paper bag.  Shelter will be provided where athletes will eat lunch in the Hideout or Cliff House.
    • There will be no lessons over X-Games and President’s Day Weekend.
    • There are lessons over MLK weekend.
    • No scholarships are available, but payment plans can be arranged.

  • Overview: Geared towards skiers who are ready for the challenge of Highlands and who are already a strong level 6 skier.  Athletes should be able to handle poles, hockey stop, and make consistent parallel turns.
  • Dates: January 6, 7, 20, 27 February 3, 10, 24, March 2 | 8 days of lessons
  • Who: Skiers
  • Age/Eligibility:  Kindergarten – Grade 1| Level 6 and above
  • Time: 9:00 am – 2:30pm (5.5 hour Lesson)
  • Where: Aspen Highlands Base
  • Details:
    • Lunch will be included in the price of the program and offered through the Merry Go Round.
    • There will be no lessons on Martin Luther King Weekend and President’s Day Weekend

RIDGERUNNERS – 12 days skiing I Grades 1 - 8 I Level 6 and above

  • Overview: Ridgerunners become well-rounded skiers who can ski anywhere. This program allows athletes to experience an introduction to competition (giant slalom race, obstacle course, moguls competition, etc.) and is a stepping stone to AVSC’s TEAM (development/competitive) programs.
  • Dates: January 6, 7, 20, 27, 28 February 3, 4, 10, 24, 25 March 2, 3  | 7 Saturdays and 5 Sundays I 12 Days of lessons
  • Time: 9:00 am – 2:30pm OR 9:15am – 2:45pm (5.5 Hour Lesson)
    *exact time slot will be announced before the start of the program.
  • Who: Skiers
  • Age/Eligibility: Grades 1 – 8 | Level 6 and above
  • Where: Highlands – AVSC Clubhouse

ALL MOUNTAIN PROGRAMS 

ALL MOUNTAIN EXPRESS – 8 days skiing I Grades 5 - 8 I Level 5 and above.

  • Overview: All Mountain Express Program is for skiers who want to experience the terrain on all four of our mountains under the guidance of great professional instructors in a fun, recreational group environment. This group will ski two days on each of our 4 mountains.  Skiers must be well-rounded and a strong level 5 or above.
  • Dates: January 6, 7, 20, 27 February 3, 10, 24, March 2 | 8 days of lessons - 7 Saturdays and 1 Sunday
  • Time: 9:00 am – 2:30pm (5.5 hour Lesson)
  • Who: Skiers
  • Age/Eligibility: Grades 5 – 8 | Level 5 and above.
  • Where: Announced week to week and communicated via email.
  • Details:
    • There will be no lessons on Martin Luther King Weekend and President’s Day Weekend
