Ducky Derby
Ducky Derby is back this year and offers a great opportunity for athletes to raise money for their AVSC costs as well as support AVSC.
60% of the money raised through duck purchases from an athlete's registration page goes to offset that athlete's club fees and 20% goes directly to the AVSC general scholarship fund.
Athlete Registration
To register, athletes should navigate to the youth registration page from the Ducky Derby website, or click this link here. Once on the registration page, athletes should select "Aspen Valley Ski Club," from the group dropdown to ensure that money raised goes toward their fees. Then register as usual, customize your registration, if you would like, and share that link with friends and family! Don't forget to select "Aspen Valley Ski Club," as your group so that duck purchases go to your club fees!
Why buy ducks?
Other than supporting athletes and AVSC, Ducky Derby offers the opportunity for duck purchasers to win cash! There is no limit on ducks purchased, the more you have, the better your chances are to win. If your duck wins the race, you get $10,000. Second place get's $1,000 and third gets $500. For every 3,333 ducks sold, one will be a "Lucky Duck." If a Lucky Duck wins, the adopter of that duck will recieve $25,000 per year for 40 years, which works out to $1,000,000!
The deadline for adopting ducks online is Friday, July 31.
AVSC will be at the Ducky Derby from 11am-3:30pm in Rio Grande Park on Saturday, August 2. We’ll have a tent set up and will be cheering on your ducksas they get dumped en-masse into the river. You do not need to be present to win, however.
If you are in Aspen on August 2, come say hello at the AVSC tent! AVSC will be in Rio Grande Park from 11 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. There will be food, activities, and live music. Ducks will be released to float the river at 1 p.m. from No Problem Bridge.
You do not need to be present to win.
