TK Scholarship

Teddy Karlinski was a long-time Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club member who died tragically at the age of 28 on September 26, 2016 from complications due to an epileptic seizure. Teddy’s unsurpassed passion for snowboarding was nurtured for years through AVSC where he sharpened his skills, traveled, made friends, helped others, amassed many awards and contest wins and had a lot of fun. Teddy benefitted from excellent AVSC coaching, honing solid riding techniques, perfecting park tricks and gaining tremendous competition savvy over the years.

He went on to become a leading Aspen High School snowboarder earning 4 varsity letters. Turning professional, Teddy traveled all over the country and the world competing successfully and medaling in world class events. As recently as a few years ago Teddy also worked as a beloved AVSC snowboard coach.

Teddy’s family has established the Teddy Karlinski Memorial Snowboard Scholarship as a means to provide financial assistance to deserving young snowboarders in the AVSC program who are looking to take their skills to a higher level. It means everything to Teddy’s family that his legacy and passion for snowboarding will live on through other AVSC athletes. Teddy was an exemplary ambassador of the sport and his family is looking for future exemplary ambassadors. The scholarship will be awarded to athletes who embody Teddy’s traits of commitment, ability, sportsmanship, humility, leadership and kindness toward others.

The scholarship is open to active snowboarding members of AVSC aged 13 – 18. Interested candidates should complete the attached application and submit it to the AVSC snowboard director. Recipient decisions will be made by the Teddy Karlinski Memorial Snowboard Scholarship administrators. An award amount will be determined and funds will be dispersed once expenses such as travel, lodging and entry fees are verified.
