Market and Communications Manager

Job Objective
The Marketing and Communications Manager advances Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club’s mission by leading the strategy, development, and execution of all marketing and communications initiatives. This role is responsible for telling the AVSC story with clarity, consistency, and impact to elevate the Club’s visibility, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and ensuring AVSC is represented as a world-class organization across all platforms and audiences.

As the Club’s brand leader, the Marketing and Communications Manager owns AVSC’s outward-facing voice and visual identity, developing compelling content and cohesive campaigns that connect athletes, families, donors, partners, and the broader community to AVSC’s mission and values.


Scope
Reporting to the Stewardship Director, the Marketing and Communications Manager serves as a key organizational leader and strategic partner, collaborating closely with the Stewardship Team, Program Directors, coaches, and staff across the Club. The role drives Club-wide communications strategy, establishes standards for messaging and brand execution, and ensures alignment across departments and programs.

This position requires regular, proactive engagement with staff, families, athletes, donors, media, and community members. Success in the role demands both high-level strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a strong on-the-ground presence at Club programs, events, and initiatives.


Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Communications and Brand Management

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies aligned with AVSC’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Design and deliver cohesive, engaging campaigns across email, print, web, social media, and earned media.
  • Serve as AVSC’s brand steward, maintaining and evolving brand guidelines, tone, and visual identity.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all platforms, programs, and departments.

Marketing and Content Development

  • Partner with Program Directors, coaches, and Stewardship staff to design and execute targeted marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee the creation of print and digital collateral, including program guides, flyers, newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising appeals.
  • Manage weekly competition results communications and monthly newsletters.
  • Support regular Club communications to families, donors, and stakeholders in coordination with coaches and staff.
  • Collaborate with AVSC athletes and staff to build knowledge and capacity in marketing, branding, and content creation.

Media Relations and Public Relations

  • Serve as AVSC’s primary media contact and press officer.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and industry media outlets.
  • Write and distribute press releases highlighting athlete achievements, major events, and organizational milestones.
  • Manage ongoing editorial content, including The Aspen Times’ Clubhouse Chronicles.

Digital and Social Media Management

  • Lead AVSC’s social media strategy and presence, with an emphasis on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Manage and update content on the AVSC website (www.teamavsc.org).
  • Track engagement metrics and leverage insights to refine and optimize digital performance.

Events and Community Engagement

  • Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies for AVSC events.
  • Manage communications related to event promotion, ticketing, sponsorship activation, and community outreach.

Systems and Resource Management

  • Maintain and organize mailing lists and communications systems, including CampMinder, Bloomerang, and Constant Contact.
  • Curate, organize, and archive AVSC’s photo and video assets for use across all communication channels.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50–75 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors and in inclement weather.
