Base Camp Refund Policy
Base Camp Program Refunds are available prior to the start of the program and are subject to a $50 processing fee. Once the program has started no refunds will be issued except in the case of a documented medical injury or family relocation. Any pass having been discounted through enrollment in AVSC must be returned to AVSC.
Team AVSC Refund Policy
If an athlete withdraws prior to the start of the program, a $100 cancellation fee will be charged. Start dates vary and are listed for each program. Refunds will be given to athletes who withdraw by January 15, 2010 - but only for medical reasons or family relocation. The refund will be pro-rated based on the date of the request and will only apply to the program fee, not to the parent work deposit. A cancellation fee of $400 will be charged. Example: 1/3 way through the season, 66% of the program fee will be refunded, minus $400. No refunds are given for withdrawals after January 15, 2010. All lift passes discounted through AVSC enrollment must be returned to AVSC. Scholarship recipients will not receive a refund on their scholarship award.
Participation
The Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club reserves the right to expel children from our programs who cause disruptions to the programs and create an atmosphere that is not conducive to learning and team-building. There will be no refund in such instances.
Parent Work Deposit Parent Work Deposits are an incentive for parents of Devo or Team AVSC athletes to become involved with their child's program and fundraising events for AVSC. Work deposits are credited at a rate of $15 per hour. Hours worked above and beyond those required to cover the work fee are considered volunteer hours and are greatly appreciated. The deadline to submit hours for work deposit credit is April 30, 2010. Download the parent work deposit form as a PDF file by clicking here.
Base Camp Equipment Programs
Local businesses including Gorsuch Sports, Aspen Sports, the Alternative Edge and Gene Taylor Sports all offer equipment programs beginning in early November on a first-come, first- serve basis. Prices vary with age and type of equipment. These programs are very popular and tend to sell out quickly. Durrance Sports has a purchase/buy-back program - buy a set at a special price, then return it in reasonable condition in the spring and get half of the purchase price back. Call any of these shops for more specific information. Many other local shops also work with AVSC participants, so be sure to ask regarding their policies.
Gorsuch Sports is generously offering to subsidize equipment for some scholarship recipients. Please contact Madeleine Hawken at 205-5160 if you think you may qualify.
Free Bus Transportation
Any child who is registered for SnoWarriors is eligible for free bus transportation from down-valley to Snowmass, Buttermilk or Aspen Highlands. Buses run every day of the SnoWarrior program and pick-up at the Career Center in Glenwood Springs, the new Crystal River Elementary School (Carbondale), El Jebowl, and the Basalt Middle School. To sign up for bus service download the form as a PDF file here or call Madeleine Hawken at 205-5160. Participants must register for bus service before December 4. A chaperone will be assigned to your child for the season and will contact you with details before the program starts.
Code of Conduct AVSC participants shall follow AVSC's Code of Conduct. Please download the complete Code of Conduct here.
