For over 20 years the Wilder Dwight Memorial Classic has attracted one hundred competitors each season from almost every ski club in the Rocky Mountain and Central Divisions. (Wilder Dwight, an Aspen native with a passion for skiing, was a fierce young competitor who also knew there would be no race without his fellow athletes. At age eleven he was ranked third in the nation in GS and he brought home first place wins from too many competitions to mention. Wilder had one goal in mind: to ski in the Olympics. Unfortunately, Wilders life was cut short in a tragic skiing accident at age 12 on December 7, 1986 on Aspen Mountain. The Wilder Dwight Memorial Classic is a perpetual celebration of Wilder's life and his love for skiing and racing in particular.
