Nordic Home Page ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS AVSC believes that academics come before athletics. We require all athletes to maintain an acceptable level of scholastic achievement throughout the season. - Athletes must have a "C" or better in every class in order to miss scheduled school time to train, travel or compete with AVSC.
- Athletes will fulfill all requirements outlined by their teachers for work missed.
- Athletes will abide by all study halls and/or quiet times designated by the coaches.
- Athletes will respect their teammate's rights to study in a quiet atmosphere.

Brooks serves as a liaison between the schools and the Club to ensure that athletes regardless of discipline are staying on top of their course work and meeting the Club's Participant Expectations. Brooks also helps the Club shine a light on academic achievement as well as athletic achievement. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with Brooks.
AVSC 2010-2011 WILLOUGHBY AWARD AVSC recognizes the vital importance of academics. It is a tremendous accomplishment for our athletes to balance their studies with training and competitions. To excel in the classroom and on the snow is truly remarkable. This award is given to an athlete demonstrating outstanding achievement in athletics and academics. Frank Willoughby was one of the founding fathers of AVSC and of skiing in Aspen. He served two terms as President of the AVSC Board of Directors in the late 30's and again the mid-40's. From the Midnight Mine, Frank operated the first snow-cat on Aspen Mountain. The 2010- 2011 winner: Alpine Skier Kevin Hartmann, Glenwood Springs High School, 4.0 GPA
